Methyltrioctylammonium chloride is a tetraalkylammonium salt that acts as a cationic surfactant. Methyltrioctylammonium chloride is also used as a phase transfer catalyst in the epoxidation of 1,4-diallyloxybutane to 1-allyloxy-4-glycidyloxybutane.
