2,5-Lutidine is a pyridine based organic corrosion inhibitor. It is found in cigarette smoke condensate. 2,5-Lutidine is also a versatile reactant used in stereoselective preparation of substituted piperidines by catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation of N-iminopyridinium ylides.
